Fr. John Hogg is a priest in the Antiochian Archdiocese, serving Holy Cross parish in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After spending time in the former Soviet Union during college, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007. Since that time, Fr. John has translated material into or from Russian for various Church functions, for his own practice as a priest, and for his own children. He is now translating the following works into English:
LIVES OF THE SAINTS
A Series of Children's Books Written in Russian
In Fr. John's words:
"While there are some good books on the lives of saints for very young children and there are good lives of saints for adults, there seems to be a lack of good books for children that fall in between. As a priest, I've had parishioners ask me for good recommendations for books to read to their children to help them teach their children about the saints and, in the case of converts, for them to learn along with their children. These books, by Nicea Press in Moscow, would, I think, fill that gap. The books are high quality with a reading level and style that is more complex than the already existing books [for very young children] but at the same time, still definitely geared towards children."
